Sanpintaku (Sanpintaku operations have been outsourced to 31 Hemeyou)

Latest Update : 2022-10-12

Sanpintaku (Sanpintaku operations have been outsourced to 31 Hemeyou) (No. 39, Datong Rd., Xinying Dist., Tainan City)

Built by a Japanese builder by the name of Sanpin Honda in 1935, Sanpintaku was initially a timber-built building that served as an official residence of the Xinying County Government. Today, the building is known as “Sanpintaku.” The building, constructed mostly using red cypress and detailed construction methods, carries historical significance and features an unspoiled overall appearance. As the last remaining well-preserved timber-built office residence and a valuable structure for studying Japanese-style timber building, Sanpintaku became a historic building on May 28, 2010 and was registered by the Tainan Municipal Administration of Cultural Heritage as Xinying’s first-ever Japanese-style residence.
To revive Sanpintaku after its renovation, the Tainan City Government outsourced the building’s operations to “31 Hemeyou”; the building was opened to the public on May 8, 2022. Because Sanpintaku is an ancient Japanese house filled with history and Japanese-style tea space, 31 Hemeyou will use the building to promote tea-serving culture to support art-related activities held in the Xinying region by the government, realizing the goals of reviving an old house and recreating human culture. The building will also serve its customers light meals, ancient tea tree snacks and beverages, and warm tea.
