被芝加哥媒體以「展現臺灣生命力及軟實力的音樂饗宴風靡芝城!」為標題大篇幅報導的「新古典室內樂團」,成立於2003年,由高雄文藝獎得主、留美跨領域音樂藝術家陳欣宜擔任藝術總監,團隊成員多為具豐富國際舞台經驗的表演藝術家,及榮獲國際設計獎項肯定的設計師。
致力於「有界無域」的創作理念,希望將豐厚的臺灣人文元素,以當代表演藝術的創新語彙,開展音樂劇場與跨域策展的新美學形式,持續創作與演出並紮根集結在地人才創作具論述與哲思之作品,實驗當代音樂、文學、肢體、新媒體、互動科技及空間美學,相互之間創作關係的無限可能,積極將文化藝術推向國際,傳遞來自臺灣當代獨特的藝術新能量!
重要策展包括「第58屆威尼斯雙年展」開幕週《音樂跨域作品-冀》;高雄舊火車站《高雄驛起飛》系列活動;5G沉浸式互動展演《走進江賢二-光影交響特展》。重要製作《聲景音樂劇場-給NK的十行詩》,榮獲「WSD 2022世界劇場設計展」肯定,並受邀參與「2023 布拉格世界劇場四年展」;《文學音樂劇場-笠山之歌》獲選「2022台灣音樂年鑑」跨界音樂類收錄作品;聲景音樂劇場《極境尋光-走進江賢二》榮獲臺中國家歌劇院「2024 NTT ArtsNOVA」精選節目,並榮獲2024「台新藝術獎」提名之肯定!
“Neo-Classical Chamber Ensemble”, an ensemble that had been widely reported under the title of “The Music Banquet that Shows Taiwan’s Vitality and Soft Power Swept Chicago!” by the media of Chicago. It was founded in 2003 by Chen Xinyi, a Kaohsiung Literary Award winner and a cross-disciplinary music artist studying in the United States. As the artistic director, most of the team members are performing artists with rich international stage experience and designers who have won international design awards.
“Neo-Classical Chamber Ensemble” advocates the creative concept of “realm-less with boundaries” as it develops new aesthetical forms of musicals with innovative lexicons of rich Taiwanese cultural elements. They are cross-field works that explore in-depth artistic properties, whereas incessant creations and performances are the team’s spirit and goal. As they gather local talents to co-create works of discourses and philosophy that echo with the sound of contemporary soil, it lays down cross-boundary and cross-field collaborations, hoping to bring the diversified cultures and arts of Taiwan to the world. With the novel and unique aesthetical forms, it aim to transmit the new artistic energy from Taiwan!
Important exhibitions include "Music Cross-disciplinary Works - Ji" during the opening week of the "58th Venice Biennale"; Kaohsiung old train station " Kaohsiung Express " series of activities; 5G immersive interactive performance "Into Paul Chiang". The important production "Soundscape Musical Theater - Ten Lines of Poetry to NK" was recognized by the "WSD 2022 World Theater Design Exhibition" and was invited to participate in the "2023 Prague World Theater Quadrennial Exhibition"; "Literary Musical Theater - Song of Li Shan" Selected as a work included in the "2022 Taiwan Music Yearbook" in the cross-border music category; the soundscape music theater "Pursuing the Light Ahead-Into Paul Chiang" was selected as a selected program in the National Taichung Theater "2024 NTT ArtsNOVA" and won the "2024 Taishin Arts Award" nomination affirmed!

跨國共創、耗時三年,連結土地情感、刻劃生命樣態的動人鉅作!
讓她們的故事,不凝止在船難那刻、不再是令人畏懼的靈異傳說……
以1973年往返旗津與高雄加工出口區渡輪沉船意外,造成25位年輕女工不幸罹難的事件為題材。當時正值臺灣經濟起飛,許多少女為分擔家計跨海到加工廠賺錢,僅因不願遲到被扣工資,紛紛擠上超載的渡輪而發生船難,帶走25位豐沛的靈魂,甚至演變「旗津二十五淑女墓」周邊許多穿鑿附會的靈異傳說。希望透過此作為事件重新正名,在五十多年後的新世紀,嘗試讓所有註解加以鬆綁與重新定義。
聲景音樂 × 紀實影像 × 舞踏元素 × 空間美學
由2022高雄文藝獎之藝術總監陳欣宜作品構作,邀請馬來西亞籍國際知名音樂藝術家黃楚原共同合作,舞台設計由榮獲「德國iF設計獎」的知名建築師趙建銘操刀。經由深入的田野調查,多重尋找與民眾記憶和情感相關的聲音元素,醞釀出連結土地情感、刻劃生命樣態之跨域音樂劇場作品。
內容包括〈軌跡〉、〈選擇〉、〈回家〉三幕,結合聲景音樂、紀實影像、舞踏元素、空間美學等藝術,經由肢體、聽覺與視覺移動的互動機制,透過「25」這個符碼尋著少女離家工作的軌跡,最終回歸各種形態的「家」,經由重新演繹,向撐起臺灣經濟起飛的女力致敬!
Neo-Classical Chamber Ensemble Soundscape Documentary Music Theatre - 25's Cijin White Roses Chronicle
"Soundscape Documentary Music Theatre-25's Cijin White Roses Chronicle", taken In 1973, the shipwreck accident of the ferry between Cijin and Kaohsiung export processing zone, the historical event that resulted in the tragic death of 25 young female laborers, was used as the subject of creation. Since Taiwan's economy was taking flight then, many young girls crossed the sea to the processing factory to earn money to help with their family income. Due to unwilling wages deducted because of being late, they all crowded onto an overloaded ferry and, unfortunately, shipwrecked, taking away these 25 abundant souls, it even evolved into "The Tomb of the Twenty-five Ladies of Cijin". The Neo-Classical Chamber Ensemble hopes, through this creation, to rename this event in the new century fifty years later, to try to make it possible to unbind and redefine all annotations.

25's Cijin White Roses Chronicle by the artistic director CHEN Hsin-I, who has won the 2022 Kaohsiung Literature and Art Award, and invites an internationally renowned artist from Malaysia, Ng Chor Guan, to collaborate. CHAO Chien-Ming, a prestigious architect who won the iF International Forum Design Award, will conduct the stage design committee. After in-depth field research, taking three years, through multiple searches for sonic elements related to people's memories and emotions, finally brew connection-emotion to the land and characterize the state of life into a transnational co-creation masterpiece of music theater.
Works include Paths, Choices, and Returning Home three acts, combining soundscape materials, space aesthetic, Butoh dance, documentary videos…and other elements. Through the physical body form, auditory and visual movement's level of interaction mechanism, which demonstrates the crossover of contemporary performing arts' reciprocal existence, letting their stories not end at the moment of the shipwreck, makes it no longer a frightening supernatural legendary tale. Through the number "25" tracking how they left home to work, finally returning "home" in various forms. Through reinterpreting on stage, paying tribute to the female power that propped up Taiwan's economic development take-off.
